Background: Growing up as an athlete, I’ve always had an appreciation for caring for my body in every way possible. In University I discovered yoga and was immediately hooked. It replaced competitive sport & helped ground me and learn so much more about the importance of self care. I received a B.S in Exercise Science and dove head first into the world of fitness, nutrition, wellness & yoga immediately after graduation. I’ve been fortunate to work with a variety of populations (women, men, athletes, disabled, youth, & seniors) in an array of settings such as women’s only weight loss retreats, hospitals, ski resorts, corporate offices & fitness clubs helping people explore their own balance of health & wellness through teaching yoga classes or working one-on-one as a personal trainer & wellness coach.
Why I practice: I practice for the information & feedback it provides, and the solution it offers. The practice is all things for me. It’s a physical practice - strength, balance & mobility, but also provides clarity in a foggy headspace, can slow me, & most important keeps me present. Yoga helps me connect with myself better than anything else.
Why I teach: I teach in hopes to help others find a deep connection & appreciation for their physical and psychological self. I teach because I wholeheartedly know the benefit of what a personal yoga practice can offer, and to show my students that no matter the strength, years of experience, limitations, size, shape, or age, there’s a practice suitable for everyone. And with challenge & exploration comes growth & knowledge.
