~ Hannah Kaser ~

Background:

I grew up in Australia, studied in California, worked in Switzerland, lived in China, before going back to Australia and now living in this beautiful slice of the world, Aotearoa. Home is wherever we have our feet on the ground and for the last 10 years, yoga is how I settle into a new space and find a new community.

Like a lot of us, the physical practice of Asana was the gateway into my yoga journey. Yoga has changed and continues to change how I live, think, feel and be present, always through the breath. Shedding the old patterns and layers back to our deepest and truest self, Atman.

I was a professional basketball player and only committed to a regular yoga practice towards the end of my career. I used to wish I had found it sooner but after 10 years of traveling my yogic path, I now know it was divine timing before embarking on my greatest role yet, motherhood. I am devoted to living the Yamas and Niyamas and forever being a student, learning and honouring this sacred tradition, both on and off the mat. Because of my experience as a professional athlete, I have a special interest in making yoga accessible for the wonders it does for our nervous systems, amongst many other benefits.

Why I teach:

If I can help just one person move and find the path back to themselves, then what an incredible privilege to share this ancient practice. To teach is to learn twice. The diverse and wonderful people that you meet in a yoga studio is a bonus!

Favourite quotes:

“We’re all just walking each other home” - Ram Dass.

Yoga Influences:

Vinyasa and Slow flow.

I have an affection for Bhakti yoga, but I take influence from all paths, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Hatha Yoga too.

Inspirational teachers:

My babies, their ultimate presence and the way they embody their truest self.

The many yoga teachers that have shared their wisdom directly or indirectly. In particular, Deborah Langley, Rach Mellican and Heidi Mellican for shaping my practice as a student and teacher.

Nischala Joy Devi for her women centric interpretation of the Yoga Sutra's.
