Background: I originally found yoga in my early Twenties, when a friend dragged me along to a Sivananda Centre in the UK. Whilst I very much enjoyed my weekly yoga sessions and the way they made my body feel, my experience of yoga never got any deeper than the physical body. It wasn’t until I emigrated to New Zealand many years later and discovered Satyananda Yoga that I truly ‘understood’ the energetic effects of yoga. That experience blew my perceptions wide open and inspired me to enrol into the Teacher Training programme so that I could delve deeper and deeper into the many layers of yoga.
Why I practice: I am a working mother with 4 young children, so I have a busy life with little time for myself. As a student of Yoga, I have learned to just ‘be’ in the present moment, to experience that place of quiet inner stillness. It is both my sanctuary and my sanity.
Why I teach: As a teacher of Yoga, I hope to enable other people to have this experience of inner peace and quiet stillness; to provide a refuge from their busy lives. I hope to provide varied and nurturing yoga classes that go beyond mere physical exercise, to develop a deep communion with body, mind and spirit. My classes are always delivered with a ready smile, warm enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to assist in the personal development of others.
